Farewell my captain.......

My dream for you was to see you skate with the Cup, now that will never happen, at least not in Montreal. I hope you sign with a team that appreciates your dedication, professionalism and hard work ethics. I hope you have a fan base that recognizes what you bring on the ice and it's a small comfort to me that you will no longer be blamed for every up and down that the team has. Your excellent command of the English language will serve you well no matter where you go and will not be met with disdain because you don't speak French. I will miss seeing your picture every night on the local news when they preview the upcoming sports segment. I wish you every success on your new team and I'll make it a point to watch you wherever you end up playing. The Habs aren't the Habs to me right now without you there, but I suppose like everything else I'll get used to it. You have big skates to fill and right now the thought of one of the new players wearing your "C" is going down like a fart in a spacesuit. Thanks for all of your efforts and contributions both on and off the ice, you were an inspiration and role model for many. It's with a heavy heart I say goodbye and I'm going to miss you, a lot.

I've been a fan since I was 5, but seriously the only Captain I can put a face to is Saku... Even Carbo and Muller are a blur to me... It was bound to happen but... *criiiiiiies*

Though I hear the talks with Minny have gone south. PleaseBobTradeTheLadyPleksAndPutSakuOnline#2!
(Especially if Kovy is lost in space).

It seems like a no brainer that Saku should be on the second line and Pleks should be gone. Bob wanted a change of identity, my thinking is he wouldn't want to take the C from Saku and put it elsewhere. I guess this was the only way. But it really, really sucks. It's also obvious to me that Kovy didn't want to come back, why would he, all of his teammates are gone. I never bought into this alleged Koivu versus Kovy crap anyway. If Kovy had really wanted to be captain he would have re-signed. I'm not a happy camper right now.

It's just time for a massive overhaul, that's all. If there were only a few changes, then nothing would change We'd still barely make the playoffs, and then lose in the first round.I think we have to embrace the changes and hope it amounts to a Stanley Cup.
I appreciate what Gainey is trying to do.

You're right Dennis, without major changes we would have been in the same boat this season. It just took me a couple of days to get my head around it. I couldn't stand a repeat of last season, it was terrible to watch.

Sadly Moey, I will miss him but we've got to move forward with this troubling franchise.
There was way too many shenanigans off and on the ice.
Have to agree with Dennis, I respect Bob how he pulled the plug and is "retooling" the franchise hopefully back to respectability.

Well RetroMikey,

I've heard all the rumors too. The ones about Carbo were probably the juiciest. That stuff goes in one ear and out the other for me. It will be nice to have a season with no distractions. If we're winning, you won't be hearing rumors.
