Party animals.......

Such cute critters, they sometimes stop by and pay us a visit when we're sitting outside at night, walking around the pool then dipping their paws in for a quick wash and a face splash. Last night, about 3:00 A.M. there were some strange animal noises coming out of our backyard. It sounded like an animal was being attacked. Mr. Moey went downstairs to investigate and lo and behold, it was a raccoon pool party! The little bandits were whooping it up like nobody's business and they're becoming bold and territorial; they were skinny dipping and they tossed our resident rubber ducky out on his head. Mr. Moey turned on the lights, opened the back door and told them to keep the noise down or he was calling the cops. They gave him a very indignant look and were on their way, but bless their little raccoon hearts, they were thoughtful enough to leave me a nice assortment of calling cards on the pool stairs.

Grrr....it's stinking hot here today, I have to shock the pool tonight and won't be able to use it until Sunday. How about you, any cute critter stories you'd like to share?

I had a pet raccoon when I was little. Well, he didn't live with us obviously, he lived in the forest that used to be behind our old house, but we'd leave him treats like a lid full of peanut butter. He sure loved those. We called him Rocky of course. Always made me laugh when he'd poke his head through the fence to see if there were any goodies around.

And a few weeks ago my mom and aunt were sitting in the backyard when a skunk walked in with a trail of little baby skunks and crossed the lawn. She said they were adorable.

We're seeing more and more wildlife around here. We have a brown bunny that comes around, a gopher and of course our raccoon friends. There's so much construction and development the poor things are running out of places to live.

Welcome Betty! Feel free to comment any time you like. Bloggers LOVE comments!! I noticed you have a link for pet adoption in Buffalo. I take it you're an animal lover too. I adopted one of my three Siamese through the Siamese Rescue Alliance in Texas. It's true what they say, everything is bigger in Texas. The boy weighs in at a solid 24 pounds. He eats me out of house and home!

I'm glad you enjoy my blog, I have fun with it. Have a great weekend, it's beautiful and sunny here today.

We also had a pet raccoon when I was really little, and it lived in the back porch of the house and chewed on the wood. I've no idea why it was there but I think my parents rescued it, saved it from doom, nursed it back to health, and then set it free in the bush. His name was Charlie and we could pat it.They also rescued a baby skunk, fed it with a doll's baby bottle, and got it going too. It lived in a corner of the kitchen. I come from a fairly strange family. Maybe that's why I have issues.

Dennis,

You're family doesn't sound strange at all, I wish more families would have that kind of compassion for the critters we share the planet with, it would make the world a better place.
