R-E-S-P-E-C-T..........

Matisse and Clicquot enjoying the Habs/Caps game on Thursday night.

Looks like we're going to have to earn it.  I always thought that the HNIC/CBC crew were Hab haters, but what's up with TSN?  On Thursday night's intro the Habs were a team "in desperate need of a miracle."   A bit over the top, don't you think?  I mean we've had our struggles during the season but so have a lot of other teams.  I was reading the comments on FourHabsFans yesterday and one of my favorite commentors posted this:

"But perhaps the biggest eyebrow raiser came on Thursday when the Canadiens
- with the lowest point total among the 16 postseason teams - edged the
Eastern Conference-leading Capitals 3-2 in overtime and made sure super
sniper Alex Ovechkin didn't get a single shot on goal.

Are these games a microcosm of what will happen their respective series,
or does a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while?

A blind squirrel finding a nut once in a while?  Them's fightin' words.   Now I'm stoked.  I want the Habs to knock the Caps into tomorrow.  Show no mercy boys. Please? Pretty please?

I don't quite get the hate and total lack of respect. It certainly isn't because of any recent success that the Habs have had.  Are they holding 24 cups against us?  Is it political?  Equally as confusing is Pierre McGuire has decided to jump on the Habs bandwagon.  He actually said that he was "honored" to be calling a Habs playoff series.  What?? Unless the dufus has finally figured out slagging them at every opportunity isn't the fastest path back to gaining employment with them, which is what I think he ultimately wants.

Great game on Thursday night, a scary first period but then the Habs found their legs in the second and didn't look back.  Both Jaro's were brilliant, I'm just concerned about Jaro Spacek being able to contain Ovie for another six games, he's no spring chicken.  I hope the "good" Habs show up for tonight but even with a loss going back to the Bell Center with a split  is a much better scenario than I initially predicted.  Not because I think they're "blind squirrels" but they've been so inconsistent during the regular season that I thought they might squeak (pardon the pun) out a win and push the series to five.  When they all show up they're a pretty decent team, a team capable of knocking the Caps out in the first round.  Okay, I've said enough.  Don't want to jinx them.

GO HABS!!!!!!
