Who ever said it would be easy?

Yours truly before, during and after last night's game.

Nothing comes easy when you're a Habs fan. I've run the gamut of emotions from A to Z for the past two weeks, from feeling hopeful to tweeting "if the Habs playoff hopes rest on the final game against the Leafs, I'm quitting my fandom and jumping on the Pittsburgh bandwagon."  A little too hasty perhaps, obviously I'll wait until the Habs are out before hitching my wagon to Sid and his cronies.

The boys got their elusive point, it wasn't very pretty but they did what they had to do.  I would prefer to play the Caps, even if we can't get by them at least the games will be entertaining.  Also, keep in mind the Habs have a habit of playing to their opposition, so anything can happen.

If our goaltending is solid, if our power play picks up again and Cammy regains his scoring touch things could get very interesting.  In a perfect world I'd like to see Halak play the first game, lose it and Price come riding to the rescue like a knight in shining armour.  The poor guy needs a break and I'd enjoy nothing more than to see him redeem himself in front of the booing idiots in the rafters at the Bell Center.  Don't get me wrong, I don't take goaltending sides, winning is all that matters, but Price deserves a shot at redemption.  He's been playing well but lady luck hasn't been on his side.

I'm disappointed that the Ducks didn't make the playoffs despite Saku carrying the team on his back for the last few games.  Would have loved to see them coming out of the west for the final.

It's a brand new season, let the games begin.

My buddy at work (good Newfoundlander) says that being a Habs fan is genetic. You can no more change it than you can change the colour of your hair. (Well you can change the colour of your hair but deep down you will still have the same colour hair.) But even if you pretend to be another team's fan, you are still a Habs fan.

On the other hand, the same guy says that being a Leafs fan is the result of being dropped on your head one too many times as an baby.

Soperman,

I was literally born into it. It was a natural part of growing up. I often wonder if I hadn't been born in Montreal what team I would be rooting for. *shudder* Imagine if it was the Leafs??!!! No, I'm way to smart for that!
