This and that.........

Excuse me a moment *brushes off cobwebs* there, that's much better.  I haven't been here in a while, a little housekeeping was in order.

Thankfully Mr. Moey is back in town tomorrow night to rescue me from such poor eating habits. *sigh* 

I listen to the Mitch Melnick show every afternoon on the Team 990, last week on Pierre McGuire's segment the subject of Alex Kovalev came up.  Pierre was suggesting that in light of Andre Markov's injury, the Habs have extra cash available to add a couple of players to the roster.  McGuire thinks Kovy would be a good fit in Montreal because, in Pierre's words, "his heart just isn't in Ottawa."  That comment didn't sit well with me, all I could think about was how Koivu left Montreal with a heavy heart and he's playing his heart out in Anaheim for a lot less money.  I sent in an email comparing the two of them, making the point that Kovy's "heart" was where the money was.

Mitch read my email on the radio and then had this to say.  "Make no mistake, after all he'd been through Saku Koivu wanted out of Montreal and decided not to sign a new contract."  He got as far away as he could and says it's the best thing he's ever done."

I was gutted.   Did this mean that I had to dab my red tinged eyes, blow my nose for one last time and put away the Kleenex box for good?  Never.  Even if it's true (it probably is) I'll still mourn the loss of Koivu for all eternity.  Which isn't difficult watching the eight million dollar imposter floating around the ice wearing number eleven.  He knows who he is.

I was so bored watching the Habs play the Leafs on Saturday that I thought I would try and amuse myself on Twitter.  It turns out (to no surprise) that Leaf fans are so dopey you can't even have a decent fight discussion with them.

Me on Twitter : Boy, Leafs are 0-3 when it comes to D men,  What kind of lame scouting staff do they have?

Leaf fan : You can't say Phaneuf is bad, I mean you just can't.  He's good, okay?

Me : Phaneuf isn't fit to shine Markov's skates, far less anything else.

Leaf fan :  Well of course he can't shine Markov's skates, Markov isn't even in Canada, he's getting his knee fixed.
