A cure for the mid winter blahs.......

and no hockey on Saturday night. Just had to content myself with this paired with a nice red Australian Shiraz.

COFFEE ROASTED FILET MIGNON
topped with a parmesan crisp with black pepper and whisky sauce

Courtesy of Le Gourmand restaurant in Pointe Claire village.  The food was great as was the company.

Now bring on the Calgary Flames.  Go Habs!

Gio takes on Chara.......

Finally, the chance I've been waiting for.  I've got the big gorilla right were I want him, lying down.  Let's settle this for once and for all, captain to captain.  First a shot to the head.  Hey, that was easy!  Now a little ankle nip, woo hoo!  A bite in the butt.  Ha!  Now in for the kill.  Uh oh, I've awakened the sleeping giant.  Holy crap, he's bigger than I thought, I think I've bitten off more than I can chew.  I want my mommy!!

It's been a rough couple of days......

for my poor Habbies and me. The boys got the crap beat out of them in Beantown and then lost to the lowly Islanders last night. Yesterday afternoon Pierre McGuire was being more sensible than Mitch Melnick. The planets must be out of sync. Anyway, this song is for my boys, especially Spacek and Pyatt. Chin up boys, beat the leaf on Saturday and all will be right with the world.

The week in review......

and I'm not talking about hockey.  Within the span of a week, I saw what I considered to be the best and worst of movies.

The first one was "The Killer Inside Me" with Casey Affleck, Kate Hudson & Jessica Alba.  It was offensive, disturbing and pointless.  Two thumbs down and it's two hours of my life I'll never get back.

The other night I just happened on a lovely little film "Capturing Mary" with Maggie Smith.  I love Maggie Smith, she's a little long in the tooth but still a wonderful actress.  Loved her in "The prime of Miss Jean Brodie."

And to round out the week, last night due to the absence of HNIC, Mr. Moey and I watched the Expendables with Sylvester Stallone (I'm a big fan, I love Rocky and Rambo) with a supporting cast of action characters, Arnold even makes a brief appearance.  Loads of fun and definitely has the potential for a sequel or two even though the trailer claims that won't be the case.  Stallone wrote the script and stars in it, and if he stays true to form somehow I can't imagine there won't be another.

This is off the movie topic but something that came to mind last night when we were watching the movie.  Mr. Moey and I went to Egypt a few years back and after a couple of days in Cairo and interacting with the locals at the outdoor markets we figured out their way of distinguishing between American and Canadian tourists.  Americans were "Rambo" and Canadians were "Canada Dry."  Interesting.
