Matinee with Moey......

Every so often I see a movie that looks interesting and I record it.  Nine times out of ten I watch the first five minutes and end up deleting it.  During my week off at Christmas, I came across this little gem.  It's about two British friends that embark on a road trip to England's Lake District.  It has a little bit of everything that appeals to me, British humor, nice scenery and  awesome food.

Holbeck Ghyll, one of the country hotels featured in the film

It wasn't until after the movie ended that I googled the two leading actors and discovered that they are British comedians and impersonators.  I am enclosing a link to the movie review and please click on the restaurant links within the article.  The country inns/hotels look absolutely divine and for the first time since 1990 I have a hankering to return to the UK.  I'd love to do the same trip, it's going on my bucket list.

Moey gives "The Trip" two thumbs way up.

Happy New Year!

I make the same resolution every year, lose the pounds I've gained over Christmas.  I'm a quick study.  I have to say that Mr. M redeemed himself in spades in the food and wine department.  I usually do all the grocery shopping and cooking so in a previous post I whined about Mr. M's one and only contribution  for the holiday season, Guinness.  He brought home these goodies and two cases of wine.  No cooking for me on New Year's Eve, I just threw a package of cheese fondue in a pot and cut up a baguette.

But of course........

Fine cheese, tipsy olives (in vermouth) fresh foie gras

New Year's Eve 2011, 11:55 PM  He's usually fast asleep but I found him sitting here....

As for the Habs, they are what they are.  This prayer says it best:.

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy and prosperous 2012!
