Is it too early to panic?

No.  Normally I poo hoo people who start to panic in the early days of a new season.  Watching the Habs squander two points last night pissed me right off.  And by the look of the empty seats at the Bell Center, I'm not alone.   I get no joy watching this team scratch and claw their way into the playoffs come April.  As a matter of fact I'm sick and tired of it.  I realize we have injuries and there's no time frame yet on when Andrei Markov will be making his return to the lineup.  In spite of that, this team CAN play better than the debacle I witnessed last night.

I think that Brian Gionta has not only inherited the "C" from Koivu but also his penchant for taking stupid penalties.  Carey Price has to be on top of his game on any given night to give them a chance to win.  I think he knows this and that's a lot of pressure to be under.  Erik Cole needs a dose of smelling salts.  PK Subban needs a good hard slap because if he keeps playing by himself he'll be sitting by himself eating hot dogs in the press box.

There's not a whole lot to like about this team right now and instead of being ticked off that I 'm busy tomorrow night and won't see the game, I'm looking forward to it.   Pics and restaurant review to come on Sunday.

I left my turkey shopping too late this year and the only ones Metro had (besides $60.00 Butterballs) were of the cook from frozen variety.  I've never cooked one like that before but I'm pleased to say it came out beautifully.  It tasted pretty darn good too!  I'd also like to give thanks that the Habs beat the Jets 5-1 last night but I only caught bits and pieces of it between stuffing my face with above turkey.  The TV was on in the family room and the one thing I kept hearing was "another great save by Price".  I caught the post game segment with Cherry calling Price "the best goaltender in the world right now".  Wow.  Cherry praising a Hab? If there were any doubts about his senility, now it's official.

Season opener - Habs versus Leafs



In a nutshell..........

 Not much to add to that but I do have a couple of thoughts.  The general consensus is the Habs aren't big or tough enough to handle a team like the Leafs and that they will continually be out muscled and intimidated by the likes of the Flyers and the big bad Bruins.  Hogwash.

The Habs came out killing dead things in the first period but the wind was sucked out of their sails with a Leaf shorthanded goal early in the second.  Then they stopped doing the thing they do best, skating. They were standing around, letting the Leafs have their way with them.  Recipe for disaster.

I can't vouch for the historical accuracy of this depiction of David versus Goliath, but it looks to me like David was sensible enough to keep more than an arm's length between him and the big oaf before launching the lethal rock.
 

So take a cue from David boys, when facing a visibly bigger and meaner opponent, keep your distance, use your strengths and intelligence wisely (a no brainer against the Bruins).  And that my beloveds will get you (and I) to the promised land.

A glass of wine & Twitter, what more could a girl want?

After stinking out the joint for most of the pre-season, the Habs finally notch a fairly convincing win against Tampa last night.  I'm taking full credit for this win, I tweeted this to Mike Cammalleri early yesterday morning.  As they say in life, when you want something, just ask for it.

If lady luck is on our side this year, the entire roster will escape unscathed in the season opener against the leafs this coming Thursday and be in top form to play some meaningful hockey in Winnipeg on Sunday.
