Frriday fave......
is a movie called "Retreat".
A couple attempt to salvage their relationship by heading to a remote Scottish island. Sounds rather bland, doesn't it? It starts off a little slow but well worth sticking to as it has plenty of twists and turns along the way. You're not sure what's going on until the very end. Loved it.

Friday fave.......Salmon Tartare
I surprised Mr. Moey with this last Saturday night as an appetizer. It was followed by Veal Piccata as a main dish. However I may have shot myself in the foot because according to him there's no need to ever go out to a restaurant again. He said it was that good. Note to self : hamburgers all of next week. It's time to re-adjust his expectations.
Ingredients
200 grams fresh sushi grade salmon (chopped)
1 tsp fresh dill
1 tsp finely chopped red onion
1 tsp finely chopped green onion
1 tsp finely chopped jalapeno pepper
zest of 1 small lime (finely chopped)
1 tbsp fresh lime juice
pinch of salt & pepper
Method
Mix all the ingredients together in a glass bowl. Taste for seasoning and add salt & pepper if necessary. Cover and refrigerate for 1-2 hours,. This recipe serves four, you can divide it into four plates and serve it on a bed of baby arugula garnished with a twist of lime. I served mine with homemade toasted baguette rounds, seasoned with a little olive oil, sea salt and pepper.

Friday favorite.......
Love this!
This is a great marinade for lamb and pork chops. I put the chops in a large bowl, pour this over the meat (coating both sides) and let it sit for a couple of hours in the fridge.
Fire up the BBQ and pour yourself a glass of wine. Grill over medium heat until desired doneness.
Enjoy!

Hello? *echoes* Hello?
*switches light on* Oy, what a mess, cat hair everywhere and some dried up poop in the corner. *opens window* While this place airs out, how about a quick look around my garden?
Summer is almost behind us although the weather is still fantastic. Hockey "should" be right around the corner but all bets are off on when the season will actually start. I'm beside myself, that's the one thing that gets me through the winter. In the meantime, I have a couple of recipes to post this week that are tried and true. I'm working on getting my blogging mojo back, I had seriously considered packing it in for good but I don't feel that I'm done yet. To get me back into the habit I've decided to add a weekly feature "Friday favorite" which could be a recipe, a food or beauty product, a movie or anything else that catches my fancy.
Now I have to get off my lazy backside and get the supper going. It's pouring rain and I have to go outside to BBQ some lamb chops. Mr, Moey has so kindly offered to go and fetch the umbrella for me, he's so thoughtful. I feel blessed.
Not sure what this is but I love the brilliant blue color |

Go Kings go......
because of this and because I don't hate their guts.
Curse of Marty McSorley
In the 1993 Stanley Cup Finals, the Los Angeles Kings led 2-1 when the Montreal Canadiens suspected Kings player Marty McSorley's stick was too curved. After the stick was examined, McSorley was penalized two minutes for playing with illegal equipment and Montreal tied the game on the ensuing power-play. Carried by the curse-establishing goal, Montreal won the 1993 Stanley Cup. No Canadian hockey team has won the Stanley Cup since the Montreal in ’93. To date, four Canadian teams have made the finals only to lose to an American team. Oddly, the Quebec Nordiques who moved from Canada to the United States becoming the Colorado Avalanche, immediately won the Cup in 1996 and again in 2001.Go Kings go......

What, me worry?
Constantly. Although I'm thrilled at his return, watching Andre Markov playing hockey is stressing me completely out. I'm sitting on the edge of the sofa waiting for the end to come. That one hit that will end his career. Tonight my boy Sid steps on the ice, I'll need tranquilizers or a good stiff drink (never both at the same time, then I'd worry about dying in my sleep) to get me through it
Don't even get me started on Saku Koivu. I've fretted over him for years, every time there was a mention that he wasn't feeling well I was terrified that his cancer had returned. I hold Saku personally responsible for every gray hair for the past ten years. This game we call hockey is supposed to be fun, not a hand wringing stress inducing horrible feeling that the end is nigh.
I'm glad spring is just about sprung, I need to get a little sunshine, fresh air and a life.
