This is getting to be a tad annoying......

Last summer this guy decides to visit my place of work in Dorval, and where am I? Driving to Mirabel on an imaginary emergency.

Last week Vinnie frickin' Barbarino decides to visit my place of work and where was I?  On vacation of course.

A big shout out to my buddy and co-worker who snapped the pics for me.  He rocks.

There's a new coach on the block.....

On the off season and in the spirit of summer, I will post pictures of my first love, beaches. Specifically beaches that I've been fortunate enough to have been on. Today's pick....Fiji.

So we have a new coach and a soon to be new goalie coach. I don't know anything about Jacques Martin so I'll just have to wait and see. One thing for sure, if he's willing to leave a fairly cushy GM position in Florida to come and coach here, he's no slouch, he wants a challenge. Good on him, he's come to the right place. I don't care what kind of system he uses, as long as we win. I was chuckling to myself listening to the press conference this afternoon when Pat Hickey asks Jacques "How do you think you would handle an Alex Kovalev who has a free form style and does his own thing?" Very diplomatic Pat, what you really meant was Alex does whatever the hell he likes, he's not going to change, so good luck with that. If Kovalev does re-sign, this should be interesting (amusing) to watch. At least now with a head coach in place, Bob can get on with filling out the roster. I'm anxious to know what this team will look like for next season. Time to go pour a glass of wine and say some Penguin prayers. It's not looking good.

P.S.

If anyone has favorite beaches they would like to recommend please leave a comment!

West meets East Moey style......

What a morning I had today, I had to drive Mr. Moey to the dreaded EAST END of Montreal to pick up his bat mobile, boys and their toys, it’s a guy thing. It’s actually a 1979 Trans Am that he stores for the winter in a little old Italian lady’s garage in the EAST END. I firmly believe that Mr. Moey suffers from separation anxiety; he refuses to get rid of anything no matter how old it gets. (Hmm, I guess that applies to me too, maybe it’s not a bad thing). You’re probably asking yourself what’s the big deal about driving to the EAST END? Well consider this, no self respecting WIP (West Island princess) wants to be anywhere within a 20 mile radius of the EAST END. I saved Mr. Moey from the EAST END several years ago, move West young man I said, come towards the light. He is forever in my debt.

Off we went, I was driving and he was back seat driving (it’s another guy thing) so getting there was easy. Now comes the hard part and the anxiety is starting to set in. I have to navigate my way back on my own. So he says just go to the end of the street, hang a right and it takes you back to the Metropolitan Highway. No worries, I start driving down the street and I guess I turned left. Okay so now I’m on Pie IX Blvd, not the end of the world, this should lead me right back to the highway, well it would have if I’d been going in the right direction. I keep driving and WTF do I pass but the Olympic Stadium. Here we go again, I have to try and turn around but there are no left turns for the next 200 stoplights. I take a right turn, go up a few one way streets and try to double back to Pie IX. Now I’m totally disorientated, I don’t know my North from my South, my East from my West. Now I know how Alex Kovalev feels when he’s asked to play a North/South game, it just can’t be done. Now I’m starting to get hives, an Anglo being lost in the EAST END is the equivalent of being a white person lost in Harlem. It’s hostile territory and if worse comes to worse I’ll have to pretend to be an American tourist and ask directions. I decide to take one more side street and by the grace of God somehow I end up on a service road where I spot a sign with an arrow saying (40 Ouest). The panic starts to subside, what a relief.

I make my way back to my little West Island bubble, park in the driveway and kiss the ground. Home, safe and sound until the next time. That bat mobile has to go, if you’re interested let me know, Quebec has the highest rate of car thefts in Canada, what’s one more?

Hockey,drinks and beaches........my favorite things

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands

I was checking out the Canadiens web site today and I came accross this,

My Essentials: Alex Kovalev

A place everyone needs to visit:
The Cayman Islands. That’s an absolutely beautiful spot.

That's my boy!!! Mr. Moey and I are already booked to go back in October for my birthday, we loved it.

I was watching the Wings Hawks last night when something struck me. Guy Carbonneau got a lot of criticsm for his apparant lack of communication and emotion with the players. I was watching Mike Babcock last night, he looks like a pretty rigid no-nonsense type of guy. Nobody was getting a pat on the back, period. He strikes me like the kind of guy that if your grade average was 99.9% he'd ask why it wasn't 100%. He doesn't hesitate to critize his players even when things are going well. Scotty Bowman was meaner than a junkyard dog. The Habs players who were under his tenure in the mid to late seventies agree that they were united as a team in their hatred of him. It's what glued them together. So what's it going to be? Group hugs at the bench or a winning team?

Is is just me or is Pierre McGuire's constant ramblings a distraction? I couldn't concentrate on the game, it was like white noise or static in the background; or a mosquito constantly buzzing in your ear. I don't mind if someone is calling the game and his partner throws in his two cents now and then but Pierre never shuts up, he could talk for Canada. It's not necessary and here's a newsflash Pierre; we have eyes too.

The best thing about TSN coverage is the Bacardi Mohito commercials. I got turned on to that drink in Puerto Rico last year. Rum, lime, sugar and mint. Really refreshing, great summer drink. My other new drink discovery was in Grand Cayman, dirty Margarita's...delicious. It's a regular Margarita with olive juice added, it gives it a nice kick.

I'm not sure what I'll post about during the summer, after the playoffs we have the draft then of course the comings and goings with our UFA's before July 1. I think the hockey pickings will be pretty slim after that, how about if I post recipes and maybe pictures of my shoes? Any ideas?

Oh and if you want to leave a comment, please do, as a matter of fact I would welcome it with open arms. I'm starting to wonder if maybe my mindless ramblings are leaving people speechless :)
