A rockin' weekend.......

Well, home sweet empty home.  Mr. Moey has gone to Florida for a week and I have the place to myself.  I suppose I'm a loner at heart, I do enjoy my own company.  Got up this morning, grabbed the newspaper from the front steps, made a cup of tea and went back to bed to read it.  So what should I do for the rest of the day?

There's some laundry to catch up on and a bit of housework, but then I think I'll make another cup of tea and watch the Supernatural and Come Dine With Me episodes that I have recorded on the PVR.  Then a major decision to be made, do I order pizza or a Mike's submarine for the hockey game tonight?  The cats would prefer Mikes, they like the steak in the steak and mushroom sub.  Whatever I decide, I'll order it bigger than usual so it'll do for tomorrow night as well.

Yup, things are really rockin' at Chez Moey's.  Tomorrow I'll clean out some drawers, maybe do some outlet shopping in the afternoon and heat up tonight's leftovers for supper.  Ohhh, and I'll squeeze in a bubble bath with a glass of vino.  Be still, my beating heart!

No predictions for tonight's game, Halak surprisingly is in nets.  I thought Martin would put Price in, he has a good record against Boston.  No worries, just get the two points boys!

One last look at Malibu....'til next time

Just a few last notes about my California trip, on Monday my sister and I went to my favorite eating and watering hole; Geoffrey's in Malibu.  It's a beautiful open air restaurant perched on top of Malibu beach on the Pacific Coast Highway.

I had my usual, Eggs Benedict with prosciutto on a toasted croissant.  Heavenly, washed down of course with a mighty fine Californian Pinot Noir.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, it was a nice break from that far too long stretch between Christmas and Easter.  The hockey game in Anaheim was the icing on the cake, it's funny during the game when the Habs were down 3-0 I turned to my sister and remarked that just because the Habs are down doesn't mean they're out.  The Ducks on the other hand have no shortage of talent, they had nine players participating in the Olympics, the most of any NHL team, but so far their season has been sub par.  It's a bit of a mystery.

Just a few last notes about my California trip, on Monday my sister and I went to my favorite eating and watering hole; Geoffrey's in Malibu.  It's a beautiful open air restaurant perched on top of Malibu beach on the Pacific Coast Highway.

On location at Laguna Beach and Honda Center.....

Had a great day yesterday, we headed out to Laguna Beach around noon.  The weather cooperated and we only had a little sprinkling of rain.  Quaint little artist's town, with lots of galleries, boutique hotels and  a large selection of restaurants to choose from.  We had settled on "230 Forest Avenue" and weren't disappointed.  Some lunch items sampled were a rare Ahi tuna burger, Kobe burgers, deep fried squid and a deep fried oyster sandwich.  We then took a leisurely stroll around town to walk off our meal.

Next up, Habs versus Ducks at Honda Center.  I proudly put on my Koivu Duck's jersey and by the time the score was 3-0 decided that as much as I love Saku, I was jinxing les boys.  Off with the jersey, my seven year old nephew, who is a Ducks fan was more than happy to wear it, even though it went down to his knees.  The Honda Center is a  nice venue, you can get close to the rink before the puck drops and snap a few pics.

On location from sunny California...

Well I finally made it.  Just a quick tip for anyone traveling to the U.S., you really do need to be at the airport 2 hours before departure.  I only gave myself an hour and a half and ended up being plucked out of the security lineup to go through customs, it was the final boarding call for my flight.  No duty free, crap.

One thing I didn't miss about CA was the traffic, it's rush hour 24/7.  It rained all day on Saturday, which is unusual for this time of year, but it gave us an excuse to go shopping.  I have a thing about shoes, so the first stop was Nordstrom Rack and I didn't leave empty handed, a good start.  We dropped into a liquor store called "Bevmo", where they hold wine tasting on the weekend.  We sampled six different wines for $2.00 along with some cheese, crackers and olives.  I picked up a couple of bottles of California wine to take home, some great deals to be had, I chose a Hidden Cellars Petite Sirah at $16.00 and got the second bottle for 5 cents.  I kid you not.

We spent the balance of the afternoon sipping Sangria and watching the latest Disney movie Up!  Highly recommended, Moey gives it a big two thumbs up, it's suitable for all ages. My sister and I are both foodies, so last night we feasted on cream of shrimp bisque and for the main course, shrimp and smoked mushroom quesadillas.  Delicious.  Oh, and we managed to catch the Habs/Kings game on TV.  The boys played a pretty good game last night, I was waiting for them to blow their lead in the third, but they managed an insurance goal and got the two points.

It's lovely and sunny out as I write this, we're off to Laguna Beach for a late lunch this afternoon, and then on to Anaheim and my beloved Captain Koivu.  I also will be meeting up with a fellow commenter from the Four Habs Fans site, it's a small world eh?
